![]() Profile of Molotro home typefaces license articles online research profile: Luciano Perondi Luciano Perondi was born in 1976 in Busto Arsizio (VA), and has been involved in type, graphic and information design since 1998. In 2003 he created Molotro, a studio whose aim is the design of custom and commercial typefaces and also graphic and information design. Molotro's projects often include a part of scientific research. He is interested in any aspect of the writing systems: both in the history of writing and its developments beyond alphabet. He has designed several custom typefaces for corporate identities, events, publishers, sign systems. Two of his typefaces are also included in ADI Design Index and one of them has been mentioned at Compasso d'Oro Award. His works include not only type design, but also scientifical and technical information design. His main field of interest is the non linear use of writing and pictorial languages. He designs also experimental pages about this topic for the magazine Experience. Luciano Perondi has been a member of AIAP since 1998 and a member of ATypI since 2004 Valentina Montagna Valentina Montagna was born in 1981 in Busto Arsizio (VA) and graduated in Fashion Design in 2004. Now she has chosen to specialize in Graphic Design. Since 2004 she has been involved in Molotro's projects. Smurf, illustrator, photographer, mascot and graphic designer, Valentina now has two heads: one is bad and the other one is deeply bad. Paolo Mazzetti Paolo Mazzetti was born in Milan and now he is attending a graphic design course at Milan's Istituto Europeo di Design. In 2005 he has worked with Molotro on several projects. He has also contributed to EXP's researches and supported its superheroic members of whom he's a great fan. EXP Research Team In 2003 Michele Patanè, Marco Kisic, Stefano Minelli and Luciano Perondi founded the EXP Research Team. The research team is formed by two type designers and two psychologists, it studies the reading process, the influences of the irregularity of typefaces on reading and the non linear script. EXP is now starting to work on the effects of presbiopia on reading and on how an adequate design of types could help presbiopian readers. All these researches are applied to type and information and their aim is to improve the design of typefaces for text and sign systems. EXP is also involved in designing and publishing a practical application of all its researches. Teaching Since 2004 he teaches typography and graphic design at Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan and at Politecnico di Bari. Lectures, conferences and workshops Luciano Perondi lectured several times in many Italian universities (IUAV, Politecnico di Milano, Politecnico di Bari, ISD Napoli). He spoke in several conferences on typography, writing systems and non linear script, both for a professional audience and for a divulgative purpose. He has also been speaker at ATypI 2002 in Rome and at ATypI 2005 in Helsinki. Writings Luciano Perondi's articles are published on Graphicus, Experience, Progetto Grafico and SocialDesignZine.
